During the night (Wednesday), Hezbollah launched an explosive drone at an IDF engineering vehicle operating in the Ali Tahar Ridge area.

This constitutes a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon by Hezbollah.

أصدر المدّعي العام التمييزي القاضي أحمد رامي الحاج قراراً باستدعائي للتحقيق في "فرع التحقيق في شعبة المعلومات" على خلفية ما كتبته هنا عن محمد بن سلمان. خلافاً لما نشره تلفزيون المر وتلفزيون بيار الضاهر، لم يُصدر أمراً بتوقيفي (مذكرة إحضار). هو يهدّد بإصدارها غداً، في حال عدم امتثالي لقرار الاستدعاء، ويقول إنه "مضغوط" من جوزف عون ونواف سلام. ليس غريباً على هذا القاضي الذي عُيِّن في موقعه بقرار من يزيد بن فرحان أن يكون أداة للسلطة السياسية، لقمع حرية التعبير إرضاءً للجناح السعودي في سلطة الوصاية. ونقول لمن يفرّط في السيادة ويريد جر لبنان إلى المعسكر الإسرائيلي بأننا لن نقبل بتحويل لبنان إلى مستعمرة أميركية - إسرائيلية يُسجن فيها الناس بسبب رأيهم، على طريقة الأنظمة - القواعد العسكرية الأميركية. ومن يطلب توقيف صحافي اليوم بسبب انتقاده بن سلمان سيفعل الأمر نفسه مستقبلاً عند انتقاد لنتنياهو.

I still remember his visit to Lebanon at the beginning of the new presidential term. After meeting President Joseph Aoun at the Presidential Palace with a delegation, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham answered my question by saying:

“Before anything else, we expect the Lebanese state to decisively address the issue of disarming Hezbollah. It is a greater threat to Lebanon, its state, and its people than anything else.”

That day, I turned to my colleagues and said: “This man didn’t come here to joke.”

Lebanon can testify that Lindsey Graham was remarkably courageous in dealing with Lebanon’s challenges. He showed the resolve that many others lacked when it came to Hezbollah’s weapons and the delay in disarming the group.

Lebanon can also testify that Lindsey Graham was bolder than many of Lebanon’s political leaders in confronting an armed group operating outside the state’s authority and in pressing for concrete steps, positions, and decisions by the Presidency and the government on the issue of placing all weapons under exclusive state control, ultimately leading to the Lebanon–Israel agreement.

Lindsey Graham, thank you from Lebanon. At times, you seemed more Lebanese than some who carry a Lebanese passport.
