@mfeuling21 I think a lot of students are scared to be wrong, especially in front of other students. As teachers, we should make the point that mistakes happen all the time, and are a good thing. Like you said, its how we learn and get better.

@Ms_Jenna_Scott Teaching this skill to students is a great idea. Self-concept does have an effect on student performance. Students with a positive self-concept are more wiling to try new things and accept challenges. Low self-concept is associated with behavior problems and lack of effort.

@McKennaW219 Great article! I like all of the tips on there, especially "Give behavior-specific praise." The idea of praising the behavior I want to reinforce makes more sense to me than just disciplining a student. Seems like it would make for a better atmosphere in the classroom.
