BASTE ADMITS 2028 ELECTION STATEMENT WAS HIS 'PERCEPTION'

Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte was confronted by House private prosecutor Theodore “Ted” Te with statements he previously made about the impeachment trial of his sister, Vice President Sara Duterte.

Te presented a screenshot of an interview in which Baste said that preventing the Vice President from running in the 2028 elections was the “main reason” behind the impeachment.

Asked if he made the statement, Baste confirmed it, saying, “That is my perception.”

Te also presented another Facebook post attributed to Baste dated September 21, 2026. In the post, Baste called for vigilance against what he described as “deceptive claims and orchestrated narratives” allegedly driven by political motives.

The exchange took place as Baste testified before the Senate impeachment court on the 31st day of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.

Nine years ago today, 17-year-old Grade 11 student Kian delos Santos was killed by police officers carrying out then-President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs in Barangay 160, Caloocan City.

Police claimed that Delos Santos resisted arrest and opened fire at them, but security camera footage showed the cops dragging the victim before being shot.
