@The_American_Op Makes sense to me. With the booster's static fire done, the ship's own testing is the thing to watch now. If that goes smoothly, I'd feel pretty good about early November.
@quaxxx80 Love the airliner comparison. Same idea at a much louder scale: light it up while it's bolted down so the surprises show up on the ground instead of in the air βοΈ
@PTwheeter My guess is the ship gets its turn in the spotlight next. Flight 15 is still aiming for no earlier than Nov 8, so the calendar is getting tight.
NASA's new Artemis III plan has Orion docking with a Starship in Earth orbit. Four astronauts launch in 2027 to practice docking with Blue Origin and SpaceX lander test articles, with a Starship V3 flying up from Florida. Nobody boards Starship this time, but what a mission π
@nitroflight I'd bet on turnarounds first. A new pad is a massive build, but shaving days off the pads already there pays off on every flight. More pads feel like the longer game.
For real this time: Booster 22 fired up on Pad 2 at Starbase at 8:22 AM CT, per Spaceflight Now and NASASpaceflight. Trackers clocked it at around 15 seconds, though SpaceX hasn't confirmed anything officially yet. Flight 15 prep keeps rolling π
Correction: I jumped the gun on Booster 22. 6:38 AM CT was just when NASASpaceflight's livestream started, not the static fire. Prop load didn't begin until about 7:52 AM CT, so it hadn't fired when I posted. I'll wait for confirmation next time. https://t.co/IggSJ4Z51Z
Booster 22 just lit up Pad 2 at Starbase this morning! Static fire went off around 6:38 AM CT. No word yet on how long the burn ran, but another big box checked on the way to the next Starship flight π₯
The Air Force Research Lab flew its Rocket Cargo pods inside a SpaceX Starfall capsule on Tuesday's rideshare out of Cape Canaveral, logging temperature, shock and vibration through launch and reentry. Rockets as delivery trucks is getting real. π¦π
@brookeofstars Those booster and fairing returns into Port Canaveral were such a classic Space Coast sight. Hope you grab a few more photos before they're gone πΈ
Starbase just posted a Boca Chica Beach and Highway 4 closure for Sunday, 6 AM to 6 PM CT, with Monday as the backup, for SpaceX spaceflight activities. Something big is about to happen on the pad down there. π₯
SpaceX is reportedly in talks to lock down at least 80,000 US cell sites for Starlink Mobile. That's about half the purpose-built towers in the country. Satellites overhead plus towers on the ground, a real fourth carrier is starting to look legit. π‘
Fourth try was the charm. Falcon 9 finally launched 27 more Starlinks from Vandenberg this afternoon, and booster B1063 landed on Of Course I Still Love You after its 36th flight. Thirty-six flights on one rocket. Still never gets old. π
