As we celebrate ๐ช๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ ๐ช๐ถ-๐๐ถ ๐๐ฎ๐ this June 20, letโs clear up a common misconception: Wi-Fi does not stand for โWireless Fidelity.โ Contrary to popular belief, Wi-Fi is simply a made-up brand name created for marketing purposes and has no official meaning behind the letters.
Wi-Fi is a wireless communication technology built on the IEEE 802.11 family of standards, developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
These standards allow devices to connect and exchange data over short distances without physical cables. Wi-Fi primarily uses the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, with each standard offering varying levels of speed, coverage, and performance.
The term Wi-Fi was coined by Interbrand in 1999 for the Wi-Fi Alliance as a catchy, consumer-friendly brand name inspired by โHi-Fi.โ Contrary to a common myth, Wi-Fi does not mean โWireless Fidelity.โ
The Wi-Fi Alliance, originally called the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA), adopted the name to improve public recognition of wireless networking technology.
Today, the organization certifies Wi-Fi products to ensure compatibility and seamless communication between devices from different manufacturers. #WorldWiFiDay #internet
Volkswagen has blocked its app from working on phones using GrapheneOS, a custom Android version built for stronger privacy and security.
Users can no longer log in or control their cars via the app, yet it still runs fine on some old Android phones that no longer receive security updates.
Volkswagen says the app relies on official Android features that custom versions lack, highlighting the challenges car companies face with different phone systems.

@TimSweeneyEpic This you?
Two months after saying this, Epic laid off over 1,000 people. I don't think you really have any right to be a smartass about costs, Mr. Sweeney.
This is such a bad PR stunt. Again, people want to retain the trees in the area because they want protection from the heat and sun exposure.
You @DENROfficial don't really get it, do you?
