Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
still not quite over the fact that i watched 15 year olds get sued for millions of dollars for downloading twelve songs and now we all have to accept AI slop because every tech company in the known universe decided that IP laws don't exist now that they're inconvenient for them
Study (N=595) finds hostile sexism (openly resentful toward women) was the strongest predictor of whether young men liked the tradwife movement. Another predictor: men who believed they needed a woman to feel complete.

"A woman who claims she was abused as a minor by both Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump has given the FBI vivid accounts that include aspects of her life corroborated by the The Post and Courier through public records."
They were girls who went to school to learn, with hopes and dreams for their future. Today, their lives were brutally cut short.
I am heartbroken and appalled by the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, including reports that a girls’ school in southern Iran was hit, resulting in the injury and death of many girls. The killing of civilians, especially children, is unconscionable, and I condemn it unequivocally.
My heart is with the children, families and communities affected by escalation across the region. I stand firmly against violence and the targeting of schools and civilians. I call for the escalation of violence across the region to end. Justice and accountability must follow. All states and parties must uphold their obligations under international law to protect civilians and safeguard schools.
Every child deserves to live and learn in peace.
This is so sick--so vile--that it's hard to know where to begin.
But, as so often w/@realDonaldTrump, the question now is, who are WE?
Do we lock arms--not as Rs & Ds but Americans--and condemn this without qualification?
Or are we lost.

Why don’t we have the name(s) of who murdered Alex Pretti yet? The government obviously knows who did it. The secret police anonymously killing citizens is not how things work in a free country.
If an American president, even this one, assures desperate people marching and dying for their freedom that "help is on the way" - then help better be on the way.
BREAKING: At least 12,000 people, and possibly as many as 20,000, have been killed in Iran, sources told @CBSNews as phone lines open back up for calls from inside the Islamic Republic.

Due to federal budget cuts, PBS News had to make the difficult decision to rework our staffing and programming.
This Sunday, our PBS News Weekend team will sign off the air.
Renee Good was trying to drive away.
The ICE agent shot her twice through her side window.
The ICE agent walked away uninjured.
We all saw this on video. They all know we saw this on video.
They're lying about it for the same reason they lie about everything: they think they can get away with anything, even murder.
They are despicable, garbage human beings.
I typically don't like to be alarmist but any student of history would tell you: all the lights are blinking scarlet red.
I mean:
- Massive military expansion: check (see below)
- Annexation threats: check
- Demonstrated willingness to use force unilaterally: check
- New imperial doctrine proclaimed: check
- Withdrawal from international organizations and international treaties: check
At this stage we're not even watching warning signs anymore. We're watching the thing itself, in motion.
The only way the world stops this train is to put differences aside and form a balancing coalition. Otherwise the dominos will keep falling one after the other.
Hope of self-restraint of a rogue great power isn't historically a very successful strategy. Self-restraint requires either institutions (now being exited) or norms (now being shredded). The only thing that can bring it back is fear of consequences.
BRUTAL: Jimmy Kimmel thrashes Trump's capture of Venezuelan dictator Maduro: "Yes, he's a criminal and a dictator who's driven his country into financial ruin, while he and his family have lined their own pockets, but Maduro is no saint either."
