Hi friends - I'm likely not checking this account going forward and only using this to mirror content. Best way to contact me is via email or via my site. I have an account at [email protected] but I'm not sure how often I'll check that. But this still holds true:
6 years ago I wrote and recorded a love song to Twitter, written to the tune of New York I Love You by LCD Soundsystem. I was proud of it, so seems like a good time to pull it out. So, here’s “Twitter, I Love You” 🧵
But honestly - I’ve learned so much from so many of you. I’m quite literally a different - and hopefully a small part better - person because of the amazing tweeps I’ve had the privilege of finding on here. Thank you. Thank you all. ❤️
To ensure due credit - much of the XP implementation at CARFAX Missouri was the brainchild of Gary Brown (who isn't on Twitter or any social media) but was a big influence to all of their practices. So big shout out to him for getting such a progressive way of working adopted!
During my time at CARFAX the day was divided into four “working sessions” of about 75 minutes for everyone. In between each session was a 15 minute “break”where everyone got up from their workstations and walked, shot basketball, etc. Created culture of small steps + high collab
If you are out of ideas, go for a walk.
This paper found walking (whether outdoors or a treadmill) increased key types of creative thinking for over 80% of undergraduates. The reasons are not fully clear, but there seem to be direct effects on the brain. https://t.co/0EDfpzyf8j
A few days ago was the 4 year anniversary of Escaping the Build Trap being published.
I never thought this little book would go so far. Thanks so much to everyone who has read it!

And final day of training is in the bag! Thanks to all the NC technical rescuers from across the state for coming together for some really good challenges.
