I will create the space for relationships, I will model goodness and I know it will take as long as it takes (tima kwetsi). Thank you #telp and @jhalbert8@kaser_linda@greggbehr
The students and staff of Don Ross Middle School put together plaques and treats to recognize our amazing Squamish fire department. Thank you for all your hard work in keeping our community safe! #firepreventionweek
This year our courtyard underwent a huge transformation. Thank you to all the students, staff, parents, and community members who made this possible! https://t.co/qvbis9zbOD
To honour those who suffered trauma and harm at the former residential school in Kamloops, and their families and communities who are mourning, SD48 will lower the Canadian flag to half-mast at 11am today, Monday, May 31st. #WearOrange#everychildmatters
Indoor Track Meet lives on at @DonRossMS in different ways this year because of the pandemic. Here is our first event of our mousetrap car race - for speed! 🚗 #houseteams
Being a Principal is a challenging job. Being a Principal in the middle of a pandemic even more so. The kids and staff see the work we are doing and it is appreciated. Today I felt pretty special. #bcpvpa
A6 I have been trying not to answer emails on the weekend. They will be there on Monday. I exercise as much as possible. I 'feed the positives' in my life. I try to wrap myself in blankets of resiliency: self, community, family and land. #bcedchat
A5 I was worried about access to technology but I know we can meet that need. My biggest worry is for our vulnerable students who choose to not come to school. How are we connecting with them? I do feel more comfortable now however in making a space for them in person #bcedchat
A3 I will also try to help 'clear the way' for my teachers by providing overview communication to parent (regarding some FAQs). Our new website and app has been helpful for that as have digital PAC and action team meetings #bcedchat
@technolandy Our PAC attendance has been phenomenal. Pre-pandemic I would have a handful now we push past 20! I do try to send out as much communication as possible (I use no surprises as my mantra) but do defer a lot to other agencies.
A4 I feel much more prepared now then in the spring. Work to be done though for essential service, food security, devices, work schedules, accommodations etc...#bcedchat
A3 We have encouraged Google Classroom from September. All students are familiar. Connecting staff through Google Hangouts and Google 'Master Classes' for collaboration. Our Google Classroom clubs were also great for staying connected.#bcedchat
A2 I have no doubt the teachers at my school could handle this quick of a change. My worry as a leader is being able to support them with the logistics. For example, ensuring all students have access to a device. This is good food for thought but not insurmountable. #bcedchat
A1 I think of 'pivoting' as movement that allows us to stay grounded while also responding to need. Pivoting also allows us to survey our options and pick the best course of action. #bcedchat
Today we remember and honor all those who have and will serve our country with our Remembrance Day assembly. Thank you to all staff and students for your contributions.
