Writing comments today on a Forest Service 'Dixie Fire Recovery' project. Did you know management of the Lassen National Forest is guided by a Forest Plan which was scoped in 1979, and hasn't been materially updated since 1993?

Its become an article of faith among some in the US that reforming environmental impact analyses (e.g. NEPA) is necessary to insure a just transition, but much of this conversation is anecdotal. There hasn't been much evidence about how much NEPA matters... until now

NEPA/EIA reform to support just, clean energy & climate adaptation is necessary but quick fixes like exemptions, page limits, & curbing public participation is unlikely to speed up implementation in the @forestservice & other agencies, as some claim. 2/3
