@jamiegourlay that's ultimately up to the viewer's assessment but its crucial context to the artwork nonetheless. and removing consideration of technique does no one justice

knowing whether a painting is by a human's hand or AI prompt informs a viewer's perception of 'excellence'

just like a city skyline drawn from memory off of one glance is exceptional, even if the subject matter isn't interesting on its own

context is crucial to artwork...

@jamiegourlay this line of thinking is reductivist & harmful + slightly insulting to audiences. reducing all materials, practices, skillsets, techniques, to "art" or "excellent" flattens the context of said art, which is just as much a part of the art as the aesthetic.
