The more time I spend on the For You tab on this platform, the more I notice how many of the posts that gain huge reach happen to spread negativity.
Of course, this shouldn't be surprising, because I'm old enough to understand that negativity, pessimism, and fear sell more than optimism and realism.
But somehow I am still shocked that this is the case...
A lot of accounts keep telling you:
1) how the world is so bad right now (false: there's literally never been a better time in history to be alive),
2) how everyone is going to lose their jobs very soon (false: technology waves have always resulted in more jobs, not fewer),
3) how "idiots" like myself spend their lives working a 9-5 when it is supposedly SO EASY to be your own boss and get rich with a startup (false: the default outcome for a startup is failure, while it is entirely possible to become a multimillionaire off a 9-5 through increasing your income and investing smartly).
The reason why I keep telling everyone to ignore negativity online is because of the history I come from.
I was born in Apulia, a region of Italy where the CURRENT average salary is about €20K per year, as you can see in the chart. That's not that bad, because, of course, I'm aware there are probably billions of people in the world who had a tougher start than mine...... yet I certainly was not born wealthy or in a rich area.
And yet, through hard work, smart choices, intelligent planning, and, importantly, some independent thinking, I am now at a stage of my life where I am in a very happy place.
I have a beautiful and supportive immediate and extended family.
Our household is kind and caring.
I have a job I am good at, where I get the opportunity to work with great people on interesting problems, and where I am well compensated.
I have a number of personal creative outlets: from publishing my book "Beyond Slides", to writing my newsletter "Consulting Intel", to sharing my bullsh*t thoughts here with all of you smarter people than me.
I also get to do sports I have always enjoyed, like soccer, plus karate, which I always wanted to start but never found the courage to until recently.
Please, please, please DO NOT listen to the negative people out there. Just mute them and move on. Do not repost negative messages, that thing is impacting your brain.
This platform is INCREDIBLE for finding intelligent and experienced people in basically every discipline.
Use this power for something useful... not to listen to dumb complainers with something to sell you!
All the best in 2026.
@ns123abc @CodeStrap411 Christopher Columbus repeatedly misled his Spanish sponsors, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella about gold in the Americas. Desperate by an intense and desperate need for gold, he exaggerated claims to secure continued royal funding and used brutal measures.
@herbertong Calculated move? Chance of pledging existing shares to secure additional funds for this purchase, demonstrating conviction vs risk if the stock declines enough to margin called/force sold, leading to ownership/ voting rights decrease ahead of Nov voting
Been saying this for a long time. One of the highest signals of IQ is sensitivity to sound.

Also why “quiet people” are smarter. They are not quiet, their mind is running full speed analyzing.
How can people afford to stay the same? Sure, at times we look for breather to ‘stay the same’ for a couple of days. But expecting to live the same, stay the same, do the same perpetually throughout their lives? That’s insane!
