More people should follow @CecilYongo (Cecil Abungu). Simultaneously one of the most impressive and humble people I've met. Important work on legal rules for algorithmic auditing, AI safety & security in Africa, global majority participation in frontier AI governance, and much more.
Has led the development of the ILINA fellowship from a Kenya hub to a pan-African one, creating opportunities for many of the most promising talents I've come across in recent years. I don't know when he sleeps. Developing into the kind of leader a field should be proud to have.
President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Daniel Musinga, officially closed the 2026 Kenya National Rounds of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, marking the conclusion of a highly engaging and competitive event that brought together top law students from across the country.
Strathmore University emerged as the overall winner, demonstrating exceptional advocacy and a strong command of space law. Kabarak University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) were named first and second runners-up, respectively.
The competition continues to play a vital role in nurturing legal talent and advancing interest in the specialized field of space law, while fostering academic excellence, critical thinking and global legal awareness among participants. @DiscoverJKUAT@StrathU@lawkabarak
And if you’re in Nairobi, you’re guaranteed free lunch. Please apply, & put your best foot forward as you apply (acceptance rate typically hovers around 12 - 15 pc). We need more people working on frontier AI safety, and this is a perfect way to get the intro knowledge you need.
ILINA seminar applications close in 8 days (online application form) and 10 days (deadline to do the critical thinking test, which is part of the application). This should be an easy decision - You learn cutting edge stuff for free and get to meet insanely smart and lovely people
Our seminar and JRF applications are now open. I'm very confident that we offer one of the best opportunities any African will ever have to learn, upskill and network in AI safety/ governance. We’ve taken a lot of time to craft a leading program. Please apply (and share)!
I’ve recently been thinking about the African literary renaissance and what African AI researchers can learn from that magnificent period of African history. My short blog post follows. Read, share 🙏🏾 https://t.co/98MsrpVTUW
