@JHWeissmann@asymmetricinfo But it’s also morphing given the changing economy. Are the uneducated workers more service or manufacturing now? Unionized or not? How have voting patterns changed amongst those groups?
@SonnyBunch@CathyYoung63 Eh. Thats the root cause. But if someone cuts you on your foot and you choose to ignore it when it starts to ooze puss, smell and turn gangrenous before going to the doctor, sure that person shouldn’t have cut you, but you were still an idiot.
@tactical_spork@asymmetricinfo@BobMann2001 There’s a class of poaster, who tries to poast through every criticism of the progressive end of the Democratic Party to avoid the brutal reality that the progressive end of the party is comprised of bougie elites, not the core voting base of the party.
@scottlincicome I mean jeez 6 a pint ain’t even Whole Foods prices. Those are wherever the guys driving the Rolls Royces trading Gray Poupon through the window to each other shop for strawberries.
@bendreyfuss That’s the thing. People look at our excess and think it’s easy, but that excess only comes from the dynamism our weird collection of rights and institutions generates. Not saying that collection of rights is perfect, obviously, but there’s something dynamic and powerful to it
@BridgetPhetasy Naw. You only become Rush Limbaugh (or a fake American communist for that matter) if you ensconce yourself in a crowd that convinces itself that it isn’t insular when it really is. That’s the real danger, convincing yourself you are being intellectually honest when you aren’t.
@Noahpinion Remember the Google AI ethics controversy? I always thought the folks who opposed Google in that were weird and seemed like they were just going to set back the idea of safety in AI with their weirdness.
@RichardHanania PEPFAR and PMI are all time bangers in the humanitarian initiatives HOF. Much to the Trump admin's chagrin, even with funding pulled back PEPFAR was so effective at slowing HIV it becomes self-reinforcing and the positive impact on Africa will last generations.
@LetsCrowBoys@Eugenics_R_Us@xwanyex It really hasn't though. It's a nuisance, at most. Sure if CHOP/CHAZ had expanded and at the peak of dirty syringes everywhere in SF, but homeless people aren't preventing massive gentrification everywhere in those cities. If they were .... they might not be homeless!
@bradqpublic@mhp_guy I keep trying to convince myself that Sheets is closing the gap and then I try to analyze a data set thats too small to warrant slapping it in AI but too big to manage without Excel's better command and formula deck and I realize it doesn't.
@nonstopbutterc1@NickTimiraos The examples people are citing of other governors talking during blackout aren’t even close to how dubious this one is, but this is really not about monetary policy. The Fed is one of BofA’s primary regulators and she runs regulation.
@nonstopbutterc1@NickTimiraos We tried to give the FDIC examiners at our institution a box of Crumbl cookies on national cookie day and they sent them back.
