Cameroonian national Franklin Mufor, 40, was stabbed to death after leaving his flat to charge his mobile phone nearby because there was no electricity at home.
His body was discovered on Tuesday, September 15, with multiple stab wounds. His remains have not yet been released to the family as police investigate the killing. No arrest has been announced.
“My brother was killed in South Africa,” a family member told MMI News, appealing for the world to hear what happened to him.
Mufor’s killing comes amid mounting concern over violence against African migrants in South Africa. Cameroonians, Nigerians, Ghanaians, Mozambicans, Malawians and Congolese have faced killings, assaults, displacement and attacks on their businesses, triggering evacuations and diplomatic tensions across Africa.

Double-tap strike on a child trying to rescue a rescue worker. During a “cease fire.”
This comes as Israeli media and politicians are calling a documentary about this sort of attack a “blood libel.”

🚨BREAKING : The final moments of a child killed while trying to help an injured paramedic in Gaza.
In the first Israeli strike, a paramedic was wounded. Mohammed approached him, trying to help the injured paramedic. Israeli forces then struck the area again, killing both Child Mohammed and the wounded paramedic.
Robert Kraft, owner of the Gillette Stadium, called Ed Sheeran and told him Macklemore would not be allowed to perform in his stadium and rallied other stadium owners to collectively tell Ed to remove @macklemore from the tour. Ed caved:
"Ed Sheeran... told me that the words 'Free Palestine' and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood. But he couldn't get past his public facing, 'I don't take sides'."
@edsheeran took a side alright:
Look at this photo we found from Donald Trump Jr.’s lavish Bahamas wedding.
Can you spot the Russian oligarch close to Putin who bankrolled the event? 🧵
A Palestinian woman who was 8 months pregnant was shot in the head by Israeli forces as she sat in her tent in Gaza.

An MMI News review has identified at least 26 women and girls killed, or reported dead in suspected killings, across Cameroon between August 1 and September 11, 2026.
The victims include teenage girls, young women, mothers and pregnant women. Some were reportedly killed by husbands or boyfriends. Others died in suspected sexual attacks, stabbings, shootings, poisoning cases and other violent circumstances still under investigation.
Among those documented are Philomène Ndambaki in Bertoua, 16-year-old Ekassy Samantha, 19-year-old Diane Yidi Ebabi, Daïna Tikeng, Irène Dorothée Ngo, Ewana Flore, Bronhilda Nofendo, Modestine T., Delphine Bih, Crescence Merline Beguel, Tchos Blandine, Chea Géraldine and Eyenga Konga Jamelle.
The review also found cases involving children, including a three-year-old girl in Douala, a young girl in Mfou and a seven-year-old girl in Yaoundé. Several other female deaths remain under investigation and have not been included in the 26-case total because there is not yet enough evidence to establish that they were killings.
MMI News also found errors in some figures circulating online. Several cases had been duplicated, misdated or presented as femicides before a gender-related motive had been established. Our review therefore uses the broader category of female victims of reported or suspected killings, while distinguishing intimate-partner killings and unresolved deaths.
The six-week toll comes months after the government revealed that 50 femicides had already been recorded between January and April 2026, alongside 1,599 reported cases of gender-based violence.
Cameroon has announced measures to fight violence against women and children, but the latest cases raise difficult questions about prevention: How many victims had previously reported threats or abuse? How quickly can women at immediate risk obtain protection? How many cases reach court, and how many perpetrators are convicted?
The true number may be higher. Cameroon has no publicly accessible real-time database documenting every female homicide, and some deaths in rural communities receive little or no national coverage.
MMI News will continue documenting the cases, correcting the record where necessary and tracking investigations.
