When I lived in Pasadena, I used to walk for miles all through N Pasadena and Altadena, and up through Echo Mountain
The tiny houses with their lush gardens, the beautiful vistas, the endless sunsets--these kept me sane through the pandemic, and are what I've missed most
gentrification in pasadena displaced a lot of folks in the past 10-20 years. the effects were already creeping into altadena as well, but it had been managing to hold onto its vibrant character. i fear for its future
really depressing how little coverage the eaton fire is getting compared to palisades, despite having caused almost the same amount of damage. altadena is a vibrant, primarily black and brown community. many families have lived there for decades, and not have the means to return
Altadena ...the area where the Eaton fire (large one on the east), has a very large black middle class population and a deep history there. There's generations of families who've lost everything and if you can please check out this spreadsheet to donate
This is embarrassing for the city government. Completely unprepared for crisis & lacking infrastructure (see budget) to handle it. Mutual aid groups are the ones saving people in this city.
Please support @MaskBlocLA & send them a few $ on Venm0:
i broke down yesterday when i was clicking on a map of reported fires and saw this building pop up. i drew it in 2021 as a way to say goodbye to pasadena before moving to oregon, i think it was a radio station. it might not be there anymore
Just got my new frames! If you, like me, struggle with finding glasses for your tiny baby face, I recommend looking up vintage frames from the 1920s and 30s!
There's a lot floating around and you can get them in smaller sizes than you can usually get new!
