@chadelkinscpa I don’t take those on anymore outside of odd circumstances but when I did, I I’d require a significant retainer up front, per year.
That usually convinced people to seek help elsewhere, and I avoided doing painful work for free
@CPATaxTeam@SmithMatthewC I use ProConnect for familiarity. I disliked the virtual server set up. For my little firm it works
I used Ultra Tax this year on some work for a friend; i found it less than excellent
Will see how ProConnect works
@IraGilligan I worked for a great partner with 8 kids. He visited my wife and I at the hospital and told me that if he saw me at the office in the next week he would fire me.
Good man
@CrownCPA@cbriancpa I’m in my second start. I ran a firm for 15 years and pretty much never say no.
My new firm? No is more common than yes. It’s what makes it almost fun!
@LoganGrafTax I ended up in rehab, lots of reasons but not saying “No” definitely contributed.
New job: lots of boundaries, I just said “no” an hour ago. It was an old friend who truly added to my stress because I wasn’t comfortable charging him. Of course he wants to come back! “No”
@jimmydean197 The home we are selling in bend (not listed) just had a successful appraisal.
There’s a repair contingency out there, but looks like the place might actually sell.
I loved that house. The new people have kids, it should be a great home for them
@TaxHacker@LoZabransky I worked for a guy who messed up an estimate calculation and told me to beef up schedule c expenses to get the payment to where he’d planned
Then not tell the client
I quit
@CrownCPA I’ve done drywall work
It’s easy if you don’t care how it looks
It’s really tough if you care how it looks
It’s one of those things I just pay for now and really appreciate it when I cant even tell the work was done
