Transcutaneous pacing (TCP) is used to treat unstable bradycardia. In this multi-center study of TCP performed by paramedics, only 9.7% had sustained electrical capture, suggesting the procedure is frequently performed ineffectively.

Delays to chest compressions and defibrillation are common following prehospital rearrest. Among pts. with a rearrest rhythm of VF, the median delay from the first second of VF on ECG to defib. was 67s (IQR 29, 245), and 3 (20%) were not defibrillated.
