This is a very scary, underreported, and under-addressed trend in the United States: Almost 1/3 of American adults have only a basic grasp of literacy, up 9% in just 6 years from 2017 to 2023. I would also be surprised if it’s not still soaring up.

Why doesn’t the @NBA just say if a team misses the playoffs two years in a row, they’re moved to the end of the lottery in year 3 and stay there until they make the playoffs again (resetting the clock)? Punish poor owners/GMs for making fans watch 3+ seasons of bad basketball.

Idea for @NCAA eligibility: you start with 4 years and get one transfer. Each transfer after that reduces your eligibility by one year. If you spend all four years at one school, you get a fifth year. Doesn’t punish ALL movement, just the ones transferring every year.

@WallStreetMav I think it was @Freakonomics podcast that had a great episode going over how this works a bit, episode 618 “Are Realtors Having An Existential Crisis?”. If it was from that episode, one reason being realtors try to only deal with other realtors and not direct (save their own job)

Many people (especially those already on the lower end of the critical thinking spectrum) rely on AI so much that their job loss becomes a self fulfilling prophecy: if you have to run all YOUR thoughts through AI anyway, why pay you instead of using AI?

Without 2 top 6 players, Nebraska on the road led Michigan for 37+ minutes, outplayed them so much (+15 in adj efficiency) they moved UP in Kenpom after a loss, yet loses by 2. How? Because they were given the least free throws (4) in a top 5 matchup in 16 years (Michigan had 23)
