The Communist Party is calling on members and supporters, socialists and trade unionists to mobilise for peace, support this weekend's demonstrations and take the arguments against war into every workplace in Britain.
We demand the withdrawal of British armed forces which have been sent to the Middle East in the past days - as well as the withdrawal of all British troops and bases already stationed in the region.
The danger of even greater British military intervention in Palestine and the wider the Middle East is clear and imminent.
The Labour Party and TUC conferences both indicated that government foreign policy would go unchallenged. Now the region and people of the world stand to pay the price for this cowardice.
No to war and intervention!
Fight for peace!

With the cold setting in once again the Tories have no plans to address fuel poverty and the right wing Labour leadership have ruled out public ownership or any meaningful plans to support working people. All the while the energy monopolies are making super profits ❄️🔋💷
The Communist Party is demanding that energy and fuel prices are cut to an affordable rate and frozen. This could easily be funded by a rise in corporation tax and an emergency tax on the obscene profits made by energy monopolies in the last two years.
We’re also calling for an above inflation rise in the Winter Fuel Allowance for the 8 million citizens who receive it already.
These are measures to get us through the winter months. But the dominance of energy giants is the real issue.
All of these companies must be nationalised and the energy sector taken into public ownership to guarantee capped prices and the reinvestment of all profits for public good, not to line the pockets of shareholders.
The Communist Party of Britain expresses solidarity with the Palestinian people at this time of an escalation of resistance to the criminal occupation of Palestinian land by the state of Israel.
The events occurring this weekend are the entirely predictable response of a people to military occupation, apartheid and constant attack and humiliation.
The full responsibility for the current situation rests not only with the current far-right Netanyahu government, and with the increasingly cruel strangling since 2007 of Gaza and of all occupied territories, but with all the historic injustices inflicted upon the Palestinian people.
The deaths of civilians and crimes against them on both sides must be avoided and condemned. However, it must be clearly understood that horrific crimes are perpetrated against the Palestinian people daily by the Israeli military and state backed settlers, armed and funded by the USA and other imperialist powers including Britain. Collective punishment of the people of Gaza is a war crime and must cease immediately.
It is clear, now more than ever, that the only solution can be an end to the criminal occupation, an end to racial apartheid and crimes against civilians and the implementation of a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders establishing an independent Palestinian state.
The Communist Party rejects the actions and statements by the British government to criminalise solidarity actions with the Palestinian people, including the measures in the Anti-Boycott Bill.
We call on all Party members, trade unionists and socialists to support and attend solidarity actions with Palestine taking place across Britain including in London on Monday 9 October and to step up support for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel.

“In the end however we must change the system which brought the climate and environmental disaster now unfolding before our eyes.”
“As we have seen over recent months and weeks, we cannot expect those who have so much invested in keeping things the way they are to make the changes our world and our country need to save them for ourselves and future generations.”
“On climate and the environment, capitalism has failed — it has to be socialism or extinction.”

As our 57th Congress at the beginning of November approaches, we explain what Congress actually is and why it is so important to our party 🗣️🗳️🚩 #CP57#ForwardToAUnitedFront
The life of anti-racism activist, communist, journalist, and “founding spirit” of the Notting Hill Carnival, Claudia Jones, was commemorated by English Heritage on Thursday 5 October with a blue plaque at her former home in Vauxhall.
The Communist Party was represented at the unveiling by David Horsley and veteran anti-racist and anti-imperialist activist Winston Pinder.
Jones was just 49 when she died in 1964. She was buried in Highgate Cemetary alongside Karl Marx. The inscription on her headstone describes her as “a valiant fighter against racism and imperialism, who dedicated her life to the progress of socialism and the liberation of her own black people.”
Jones was born in Trinidad and moved to New York, where she became a committed communist. She was imprisoned in the McCarthy trials and then extradited to Britain in 1955. At her sentencing, she said she was committed to fighting “for full and unequivocal equality for my people, the Negro people, which as a Communist I believe can only be achieved allied to the cause of the working class”.
After the Notting Hill race riots in 1958, she became a community organiser and started an event which would become the Notting Hill Carnival.
We honour her legacy, which continues to inspire activists and campaigners against racial and class oppression everywhere #claudiajones #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory #communisthistory #communistparty #communistpartyofbritain #communist #nottinghill #nottinghillcarnival
