Water vapor engineer and electron enthusiast. Really anything governed by Maxwell's equations is my jam. Also meat, and fine liquors of varying variety.
Not super sad about anything redhat owns going away. In my experience, they've never made anything they've acquired better overall or released anything terribly impressive. Their approach has always been "patch over that with a bash script" or "add a layer of lvm" and ship it.
@IPv6_mannen I mean yeah, ULA sucks due to the source address selection rules, but if used with that in mind, it's actually helpful with dhcpv6-pd for those situations where you need static local addresses like servers or a compliant nat64 prefix. I use HE space for that, but ULA is ok too.
Microsoft: We have chat GPT to help you write volumes of professional sounding bullshit around 2 important sentences.

Vendors, why do you make it hard to know which PoE standard your devices use? @Ubiquiti is today's offender. Is it non-standard bullshit hazardous passive PoE? 802.3af? 802.3at? Making it hard to figure out won't make me buy your switches, it will make me buy someone else's APs.
@kelseyhightower To be fair, "DevOps" has been so badly co-opted for marketing and other purposes that it has little real meaning anymore.
It's not the solution in the same sense that there's no such thing as a DevOps engineer or a DevOps tool.

@VerizonSupport@UPS To summarize, that signature requirement on a $0.10 SIM, and UPS choosing not to actually attempt delivery to me just cost @Verizon about $1k in revenue.
Requiring a signature on a SIM card delivery @Verizon ? Why?!? Now, because @UPS is actively hostile to apartment dwellers I get to spend 3 days fucking around because you're worried about a $0.10 piece of plastic.
@VerizonSupport@UPS Ended up getting a refund on the plan and walking away in disgust. Though they couldn't actually get the system to refund me and the Verizon phone rep told me the best way to resolve was to file a dispute with my bank. This was after a trip to the store and 25 minutes on hold.
@adamhjk There's also a question about what activity is being supported by the infrastructure. What's the cost of being offline? There are so many failure modes that are papered over by the 'cloud'. Sure, you can architect around those things. But that's what I pay AWS for.
@AlbonyCal If your router supports vlans you could set up a vlan interface on the router with ULA and then connect the pihole to that with a static address. Then you just need to get the ip for the pihole into rdnss/dhcp.
@Bazastro@TracketPacer Mikrotik really only rules in $$/port speed. Every time I have to configure anything it inevitably turns into a weekend full of frustration. So many infuriating gotchas.
