@HunterBiden I see, thanks for indulging my curiosity! Family histories are one of my many hyperfixations and names are often tied to that. That and I'm an aspiring writer, we tend to think about names more often than usual.
@theFinnishSisu@DeanKirkpatric5@gtconway3d No. I think you're missing what makes this concerning. Companies will not absorb the costs in the medium-term, eventually they have to transfer the burden to consumers because companies exist to maximize profit. It's a ticking time bomb.
@SeveriansScar@Goonie07945606 @TradWife2049 Counterpoint... uh, have you ever been around young children? They enjoy simple things, Elon can be as absent as possible and his toddler won't know any better. That's putting aside the fact that he's using his children as props, which is utterly vile behaviour.
@Archie_Lochus@RadioFreeTom Not when the president:
a) is clearly not of sound mind
b) has been actively seeking a war for the past month
Militaries exist to protect the citizenry, and if the head of state has demonstrated that they're a threat to the citizenry, duty preempts protocol.
@KiltedRef@JonesMarkLB @sm0k3_pop @Whitew0lfe777@RadioFreeTom That's like saying that Catholics, Protestants, and Mormons are identical because they all believe that Jesus is the only path to salvation. People usually don't fight each other over core beliefs, minor differences, such as scope, are better fuel for conflict.
@KiltedRef@JonesMarkLB @sm0k3_pop @Whitew0lfe777@RadioFreeTom Are you illiterate? I said that the Taliban don't have the same goals as Al-Qaeda/ISIS, not that Al-Qaeda and ISIS have differing goals. If you don't know anything about the region, don't understand the distinction between the Taliban and AQ, then defer to people who do.
@KiltedRef@JonesMarkLB @sm0k3_pop @Whitew0lfe777@RadioFreeTom The split had nothing to do with the treaty itself, it was inevitable because they're goals were in direct conflict. At the moment, the Taliban government is currently fighting the remnants of ISIS-K for precisely this reason... using the superior US equipment they seized.
@KiltedRef@JonesMarkLB @sm0k3_pop @Whitew0lfe777@RadioFreeTom The Al-Qaeda/ISIS continuum is an apocalyptic death cult hellbent on bringing about the end times. The Taliban are paternalistic theocrats who want to establish a religious state in Afghanistan. Something they can't really do if the world ends.
@KiltedRef@JonesMarkLB @sm0k3_pop @Whitew0lfe777@RadioFreeTom No. Trump cut a deal with the Taliban and set a hard time limit for a withdrawal from Afghanistan. The Biden administration had no choice but to carry out the withdrawal. If Trump had been reelected, the withdrawal still occurs and is still an unmitigated disaster.
