I'm actually in favor of this. I didn't make the cut as a young adult. Some don't. Soldiers need to be able to trust each other. They rely on the soldier next to them to follow orders bc it keeps everyone alive. Being different is fine in civilian life, the military is a machine.

The Woodville High School graduate completed the school’s plumbing program and passed the Texas state tradesman exam — becoming one of the first high school students in the state to do so.

He stepped into adulthood with specialized training, an industry credential, and a real career already underway.

Carmelo is now working as a second-year tradesman with Local 68 Plumbing in Beaumont, Texas, gaining experience and building his earning potential while many of his peers are still trying to decide what they want to do.

“It gave me a chance to actually step up in life,” he said.
