I love working with metal, living simply, early retirement and all the time I have to travel. After 15 years, haven’t looked back! Just looking forward 🤞🏻
@AlpacaAurelius 2014, inherited a lovely rosewood dining table from my parents/grandparents from 1907. I always said I wouldn’t get rid of it. But I did.
I loved it but I also recognised that I preferred my (50 yr old ) dining table for usability
Come the day, mine will also go for auction!
@JamesMelville A lot of money is being swallowed up by elderly care, & school taxis. Both are exploding. No easy answer
Just look at the basics - drain clearance, weed control, fly tipping, public bin emptying..
Balance with increase of employees & avg salary/pension!
@DaveKent101 MP’s (& partners) should have to declare their net worth on entering parliament, and every year thereafter, with a paragraph explaining the gains/losses. Doesn’t have to be public, but certainly independently scrutinised!
Time to stop the gravy train! MP then multi millionaire?
@Fascinate_Hist I’m old enough to remember that at decimalisation, 1971, they cost 6d/old pence and became 2 1/2p… At the time of repricing, everything particularly chocolate bars got smaller!
An old Mars bar, was something you would struggle to eat at one sitting…
@Dr_Biohacker I disagree- far from an athlete (or an expert?) but I believe low thyroid reduces the heart rate - mine sits about 62 (I’m 70 & overweight, though fit and active! )
@EJWoolf Our posties are great (Edinburgh south). Love them! V friendly! Few days ago, postie rings our doorbell. Can we get in touch with our neighbours? Their keys were left in the lock, and she couldn’t leave it like that! We locked up, and texted them. Could have been a big problem!
@FlyFifer10 I certainly remember this from a friend’s house. The surprising thing is, that it was in a small town in Northern Ireland, with minimal crime?
My only thought is that next door was a doctor’s surgery, so maybe they had a few break-ins?? Who knows?
@DanClintonRN Still got a fear of vomiting! Age 3, I was scolded for being sick on the floor. 😢. Even today if someone throws up, I’ll join in!
Tbf Mum had Pleurisy and Dad was looking after my 4yr old brother. No visitors for wks My GP complained and Dad was allowed in. All I did was cry!
@DanClintonRN Antibiotics were still in their infancy! It was a long time ago!
Born placenta previa at 32 weeks in 1955, so i obv decided to challenge the medics.
Fortunately apart from birthing 2 kids, I haven’t spent a night in hospital since!
I’m now 70! Take only 1 pill. Very fit!
@soniasodha To many it is a huge commitment, £20k p.a. per child (post tax), means older cars, few holidays, overtime, 2nd jobs etc. To casually say, a move from £16k to£20k is fine, but that’s a family holiday gone. Yes it’s how you choose to spend your money. Education should not be taxed!
@soniasodha For SEND, it may make the difference between the child succeeding v failing. For others, they just want to give kids a grammar school education, I got for free. At our local school, a friend said - it’s great once you get to 5th year, cos everyone wants to be there. /2
