@KimFishlegs I am very late to this, but apparently Christmas songs in church used to be bawdier and loud and competitive - 1 half vs the other. Then the Victorians went "err, no". So people did that in pubs instead (see: Sheffield)
@MrJohnMcCubbin@rhipratchett@RMCunliffe And, if it makes just one person - of whatever politics or creed - read just one novel by STP then I'm all for it (as someone who speaks effusively to colleagues and students at a school to get them just to try. Thankfully our librarian picked up some second hand copies)
@MrJohnMcCubbin@rhipratchett@RMCunliffe So, while I don't necessarily agree with either the Conservatives or their leader - the idea a 45 year old can't have grown up adoring the man, and the words, characters, and worlds he created is definitely off. Ooook, and GNU STP
@mini_lebowski I should add my school is 11-16, the other is 12-18, should you be looking for particular ages of students (although happy to put you in touch with a couple of primary schools if that's the age group you're after)
@mini_lebowski Hello! I work in a school in Worcester that might fit the bill, and have contacts at another that would too, but I can't DM as you don't follow. I wouldn't be the right person (I'm the data manager), but I could put the right people in touch with you
@calvinrobinson@MPSCroydon They're not the same, of which I'd hope you're all too aware.
CP: "if people choose to break the law, without harming others, I support those people".
LF: "I encourage people to break the law".
Only one of those is inciting people to break the law. Language does matter.
@sminkypinky76 If it helps, at work I was trying to persuade the kids who were asking each other "what did you get?" to phrase it as "Did you get the grades you needed? " / "Are you happy with the grades you got?" - still shows interest but gives option of not giving specifics
@fleetstreetfox It's *just* too long for me to post on twitter. Link to a screen record off iplayer is here (if you could shorten/speed up to post rather than repeat my onedrive link that'd be fab) - hope it's helpful: https://t.co/vfUfjazKxK
@glowypanda In case it's handy - if you go to a place called 12ft ladder (it's https://t.co/6vvkCSu59h) - you can paste the link in for lots of sites, and it's like someone wipes the grey clouds away from the window
@_YorkshireRose_ You got a pic? There should also be a stop outside the house (I had to use that when I redid all of bathroom and loo. Note: I'm not a plumber, so can be done)
@_YorkshireRose_ CHECK HOT TAP BEFORE ASSUMING THAT'S OFF TOO, as depends how your system is set up. If can't find internal shut off for water, you can do outdoors (not sure you're supposed to, but I have before)
A Life With Footnotes - my fabulous, BSFA Award nominated biography of Terry - is the Kindle Daily Deal at only 99p. And that is, of course, cutting my own throat.

@capnbobfrapples To help mitigate damage in case you're unfortunate enough to have it happen again - you can get "charging bags" to put devices in when on charge. They still advise not to charge unattended, but it is a decent layer of protection (especially for lithium batteries)
