I’m now also on that other site (that has the same name as the planner company) with the same general username.
Not sure what I’ll be posting, but feel free to follow if you’re over there too!
I like the AP and all, but Charlottesville hasn’t voted for a Republican for president since 1972, so I’m not sure how much “range of perspective” is happening in the city compared with other places.
@tjsleakyroof I would not be shocked by someone emailing (or whatever) me in my 60s asking to talk about Charlottesville in 2017! But hopefully there will be better things to talk about…
The ad director would regularly call my phone and tell me to shut up from across the room.
One time I got scooped and said “FUCK” really loud and someone in reported me.
Maybe someone shouldn’t have taken down the literal wall between advertising and the newsroom…
Hot take but I think it’s weird how quiet newsrooms are nowadays and the fact that reporters can’t yell over the phone anymore is an affront to journalism and maybe also anti-Italian
I can recall at least 3 times I was questioned by sources why the “editorial board” endorsed certain candidates they didn’t like.
Two of those times we didn’t even have a “board” anymore, it was just the editorial page editor and publisher!
i'm sorry y'all, but if you have to explain over and over again that "the newsroom and editorial board are separate!!!" you have an institutional problem.
if your readers can't understand how your news organization works, your news organization isn't working!!!!
@Ginny_Bixby@gmoomaw An insane thing that happened in 2017 that was somewhat overlooked was this whole saga, including that “another reporter” (🙋🏼♀️) had to talk to this candidate because they stopped talking to Chris and at one point the candidate’s significant other threatened to stab him
@gmoomaw Then there was Kiki in 2017, which might have been a little overlooked because of other stuff going on in the city in 2017…
