I will NOT attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg.
South Africa is doing very bad things. Expropriating private property. Using G20 to promote “solidarity, equality, & sustainability.” In other words: DEI and climate change.
My job is to advance America’s national interests, not waste taxpayer money or coddle anti-Americanism.
And with both nationalism and great power land grabs on the rise, we will need to cultivate "cosmopolitanism from below" wherever we are able, including especially in cities of all shapes and sizes.
I typically use the concept SOLIDARITY CITIES to refer to urban solidarity economies. Trump's impending onslaught on immigrants reminds me that SOLIDARITY CITIES has another meaning: It evokes cities as sanctuary for migrants #solidaritycities#sanctuarycities
This is explained beautifully in this article by @OscarGarAgu & @MartinBakJrgen1. While this use of SOLIDARITY CITIES is more common in Europe, we will need to forge connections between solidarity economies and sanctuary movements in the months to come!

Today is the official publication date of #solidaritycities. As we enter a new era of conservative, anti-DEI national level politics, it's all the more crucial that we train ourselves to see and support diverse economic alternatives at other levels.

I can't wait to dialogue w/ @OlufemiOTaiwo@BatulMH@johannabozuwa @wlawren90 on the thorniest questions confronting the climate left as we necessarily embark on new strategic directions under the incoming Trump admin.
Don't miss it! 12/9 from 4-5pm EST: https://t.co/uwa2iKjLFe
