The talk today and tonight that @CelticFC plc could scrap the in-person AGM this year and run it on Zoom or Teams doesn't stand up.
Company law requires an AGM notice to state a place. Whether a virtual-only meeting meets that test is unresolved, which is why the UK government opened a consultation on 7th September proposing to allow fully virtual AGMs.
That consultation closes on 30th November. Even under the proposal, shareholders would have to consent first.
The emergency Covid rules that let Celtic hold a closed AGM in December 2020 ended years ago. Changing a company's articles to allow virtual-only meetings needs a special resolution: 75% of the votes cast, at a general meeting of shareholders.
The AGM is the one day a year that the people who own shares in this club can put questions to the board face to face. That right doesn't disappear because a meeting is inconvenient.
Shareholders belong in the room. Turn up and vote or give your proxy to @celticCSL

Thousands of paying Celtic fans can spend months/years asking for answers on fundamental issues around the club. Dermot has his golf interrupted and the board finds its voice that evening.
They’ve made it perfectly clear who they answer to. It isn’t the people funding the club.

@HeraldSportScot@mcgowan_stephen A small win for Glasgow in these trying times.
I don’t think I can listen to another person over the age of 60 commentate on things they see now in Glasgow that I seen 20-30 years ago in the city growing up.
Do people just forget?
@jbhoy198 Andrew, the team had no idea what they were supposed to be doing today. Either they’re not being coached properly or they’re not understanding what’s being asked of them. Both land squarely on the coaching team.
There doesn’t need to be vitriol, inquests, cliches and sentiment. You simply shake Martin’s hand, thank him for the title last season and we move on.
Find a coach who can make this group of players a team.
Timely international break to go and fine that coach.
@chris_sutton73 This is the type of defence that only really appears when it’s someone you like or admire in the job. Fair enough, I get it. Recruitment looks as poor as ever, but the disjointed nature of this team is on the manager. Fundamental parts of the game just aren’t there.
