Happy Earth Day 2025 ! Small changes toward regenerative agriculture can make a big difference. Letโs all practice more sustainable living to make a better future for generations to come.
The Nebraska Soil Health Coalition (NSHC) welcomes Davis Behle as its new Network Director. Previously, Behle worked in sales for Green Cover. The NSHC is creating regional Soil Health Hubs that engage producers and conservation groups. See more at https://t.co/K2gFkMeC28 .
Today we celebrate World Soil Day to recognize healthy soil is the foundation of productive and sustainable agriculture. Implementing soil health systems allows producers to reduce erosion, increase water infiltration, improve nutrient cycling, and save money on production inputs
Congrats to Nebraska NRD's on 50 years of local conservation leadership and partnership with USDA NRCS. Great article by Alan Bartels, Lower Loup NRD, in Journal of Soil and Water Conservation (SWCS) on NRD history. SWCS is national leader in conservation advocacy and policy.
Local Foods and Farm-to-Table - I am interested in stories of people producing food products for farm/ranch-to-table, farm-to-glass, and local markets. Movement is based on peopleโs attitude about food freshness, seasonality, nutrition, sustainability, and small-farms economics.
People often make life and career decisions influenced by their culture, parents, or sense of what they โshouldโ pursue โ and those choices lead them to invest time, money, and skill development in paths that are very hard to escape from. https://t.co/NWRc8dBTiu
Our continued diversity efforts will bring bright minds to our campus, provide opportunities to excel, build success for more students, and help create a vibrant workforce in Nebraska.
Great news from NACD that soil health practices do indeed boost the bottom line on corn and soybean production. Many Nebraska farmers have already been reaping the benefits of healthy soil farming.
Well things changed quickly...
We went from only 1.6 inches of rain in the month of June to 10-12 new inches in 24 hours. Lots of terraces overtopped and bottom ground underwater.
