@hedgebrush Every time I see Americans argue about what should or shouldn’t be accessible with food stamps, it shocks me again that they give food stamps instead of just money.
the whole “so much for pan-Africanism” when a diaspora fight breaks out does not move me, because even siblings fight. but they don’t stop being siblings. presence of conflict doesn’t change our common ties to the motherland, overlapping of cultural expressions, and DNA.
A UK jury convicted four people of criminal damage for breaking into an Elbit Systems weapons site near Bristol and dismantling Israeli military drones.
The jury was never told the judge intended to sentence them as terrorists. He had already ruled, before trial, that there was a “terrorist connection” and ordered that the jury must not hear it.
@woke8yearold The Glorious Revolution which laid down some of the foundations for the revolution was led by a dutch king. Isambard Kingdom Brunel was French. You would be hard pressed to find any part of British history without influence from immigrants.
I saw a slightly bizarre tweet citing Sarah Everard as the closest English comparator of George Floyd's killing.
A young black woman died on August 1st, 1993, after being suffocated by police officers in her home in Hornsey, north London.
Her name was Joy Angelia Gardner. /1

After almost seven years at this club, it’s hard to put into words what this moment means to me.
I arrived at this club when I was 18 years old. Far from home, barely speaking the language, trying to adapt to a completely new culture, new life and chasing a dream that felt so big at the time.
I didn’t know exactly what the future would hold, but I knew I wanted to give everything for this club.
We didn’t just build a team, we built a family, an identity, and something the fans could believe in again. To see this club back where it belongs is one of the proudest moments of my career.
I want to thank my family, thank everyone at the club, the staff, my teammates, and every person working behind the scenes. Most importantly, thank you to the fans. Your support, patience and love throughout these years never went unnoticed. You stayed with us through the difficult moments, and this title belongs to you as much as anyone.
This club changed my life. I will always be grateful for the privilege of wearing this shirt.

When Europeans first encountered Great Zimbabwe in the 1870s, they refused to believe it was built by indigenous Africans and attributed it to Phoenicians, Arabs, or even the biblical Queen of Sheba. The colonial government of Rhodesia actively suppressed archaeological evidence that contradicted this, and archaeologists who concluded that Africans built it faced professional consequences.
The dry-stone construction without mortar is also confirmed, over 900 years old still standing, built entirely from locally quarried granite shaped and stacked without binding material.
There's been a lot of discussion about the not-great state of UK music, but none of it mentions that the British state imprisoned or sanctioned almost an entire gen of MCs & were removing 500+ videos a year from the internet. You don't think that would have a cultural impact?
