@GeoMcclaurin You can alway start the TM process if you have an idea for a prdt or service; however, in order for your app to mature to registration you must offer those products or services within ~3 years of filing. Never said it was "like a domain name," but thx for your insight.

Things I'm begging entrepreneurs to stop doing as a trademark attorney:

1.) Sharing your trade secrets just because someone asks for insights. Preserve your competitive advantage.
2.) Not protecting your brand due to limited funds. (Search USPTO Law School Clinic for pro bono or low bono legal help).
3.) Only seeing value in your ideas when someone else does something similar.

@hulu During my research, I discovered that Actor #LanceGross filed a trademark for #Freaknik back in 2020 in an attempt to own the name for film production & TV programs.

His application is currently suspended as it's blocked by After 9's existing and pending trademarks.
