Sometimes these burrowing owls can dig their own nest but they also reuse abandoned ground squirrel or gopher holes. As you can see from the video, they have excellent vision and great hearing too!

These cute little owls can be found from Canada's southern region to Southern California. They are about nine inches tall with a short tail but some rather long legs.

Giant swallowtail caterpillars spend 3-4 weeks eating & growing before transforming into an adult butterfly. They feed on leaves from citrus trees. This caterpillar is feeding on leaves from a lime tree. They feed day & night only stopping to rest before starting back up again.

I wanted to share with you all something you have likely never seen. You can see this caterpillar shed its outer layer and incubate then emerge as a beautiful swallowtail butterfly! This part of the process took almost 3 weeks!
