@BettyBassFace@GothicNumpty Is there a number of women that you think would be acceptable?
Because in my opinion, ONE attack is too many. One illegally obtained photograph circulated online. One frightened teenage girl. One traumatised survivor of male violence.
If you know you’re dodgy, stay out!
A handy reference list of MPs who have taken positions indicating they do not support the inclusion of biological women (ADULT HUMAN FEMALES) in the sex-based protections of the Equality Act.
Many appear to favour interpretations that would significantly dilute or remove single-sex spaces and rights effectively taking women’s legal position backwards...removing any protections. See if yours is on there and maybe drop them a message of your view on their backwards stance?! https://t.co/wbSUBke3H9
@BettyBassFace Stonewall had no right to misrepresent the law. They were trying to make changes by stealth rather than fighting through the legal challenge of changing the law itself. The mantra was No Debate. So nobody could challenge or question. They have caused a great deal of damage.
‘The party that was built to represent the interests of those with the least power in society has, on this question, positioned itself against the sex-based protections of half the population.’ 🎯 Labour Heartlands https://t.co/w3fNhG7A02
@BettyBassFace Good news though. The Code doesn’t erase trans people from the EqAct. Gender reassignment remains a protected characteristic. Trans people remain protected from discrimination & harassment, as they were before the SC ruling and as they will be after this Code comes into force.
@BettyBassFace Fact is, men (however they identify) NEVER had right of entry to women only sports, refuges, spaces, provisions or anything deemed single sex. And now the Supreme Court clarification of the 2010 Equality Act has put that beyond doubt.
@BettyBassFace If you think you can tell me some sound reasons why women should give up those hard won rights, give it a try. And if you know of a foolproof way to tell which male person is a predator or a voyeur, as opposed to a cross dresser, let us know
@BettyBassFace Thing is, as a woman, a lesbian, a mother, a grandmother and someone who knows the difference between sex & gender, men’s rights are not my concern. I’m determined that my granddaughters will grow up with the same rights to safety, privacy, dignity that we fought for decades ago
@BettyBassFace Of course, men don’t need to be trans to hurt women, as crime figures prove. So, as we have no way of knowing which men mean us harm, the law says NO men, regardless of wardrobe choices or surgical interventions, should be in women only spaces.
@BettyBassFace What I’m doing, seriously, is providing the data you implied didn’t exist. It’s taken from Ministry of Justice figures
59% of transgender prisoners in the male estate had at least one sexual-offence conviction, compared with under 20% of male prisoners overall
How has this man convinced himself that producing guidance for service providers, including on the provision of single sex spaces, is a retrograde step for equality? Does he really think it’s progressive to argue AGAINST women having rights?
There will be a lot of trans people unsettled and anxious about this announcement on the code of practice. We are now moving in full reverse on all the progress we've made on equalities.
