It’s our final night here in Chisasibi.
They’ve built a smaller curling sheet at the back of the arena for the kids in the community.
To see their joy on the ice tonight is the perfect way to be leaving this community. These smiles. Beautiful.
This has been one of the more memorable experiences in my journalism career.
Meeting elders. Watching the indigenous curlers coming together. Youth here learning to curl. Traditional meals.
Signing off from the Job’s Memorial Garden in the Cree Nation of Chisasibi.
It takes a village.
What an extraordinary day in Chisasibi. Curling history as ten Indigenous curlers game together from across Turtle Island to play in the north.
I’ll never forget this experience. Congratulations to this proud Cree Nation of Chisasibi.
What an honour to be standing beside Dorothy Stewart, a @CBCNorth journalist and researcher.
We’ll be helping out with today’s festivities for the inaugural Chisasibi Curling Classic.
Approaching an hour away from game time here.

The Koe siblings. All on the ice together. Jamie and Kevin sweeping. Kerry delivers a gem.
After all they’ve done in the sport. This is the first event ever they’ll curl together. What a great memory this will be for them. And what a treat for us.
