@hormndoc The society is moving towards a traditional approach of decentralised education. Ppl choose there teachers and teachers choose the students on mutually agreeable terms. Market will decide the employability.

In most depts, Master toppers can't be compared with top 10% of jee topper. Merit is a different story. Suicides happen among all communities. Sometimes kids don't accept being caught and do drastic things. Problem is developed before entering college.

basic issue: suicide is linked to mental state of depression. Fact is the quota entrants several std-deviations away from the top of the class are placed in an unsuitable environement leads to depression. Even packing more than 'critical mass' does not help. No studies are possible in India but in USA Richard Sanders and Heather Mc Donald have studies in law schools that it is desirable for stuents to be in the appropriate cohorts.
