Although hate any cruelty to animals, this was a HUNT, requiring great effort and skill, and the meat will feed many people for a long time. Have no doubt, whatsoever, that far too many of the negative commenters, are NOT vegetarians. Nor would they be capable of the time, effort, preparation, knowledge, nor skills, necessary to successfully bring down a bull elk, preferring instead, to acquire their 'meat' with zero effort at the grocery store. FYI, hunters do FAR MORE than the average citizen to keep the herds healthy, and finance herd management, through their hunting license and fees, plus through membership in various organizations that also support the National Parks and the 2ndA.
