I was out in Montana for the opening of elk season in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. It was an amazing experience and a successful hunt. 😃🦌

@AragornTheWise Thanks. The elk I was able to get was the only one I actually saw. Had another elk bugling behind him as well when this one came in range. Did not see any others while out on other days scouting or hunting for wolves. The information that they are low in numbers appears accurate.

@plus83489122 I would love to have another opportunity to hunt there. The guide and I did try to hunt wolves while I was there but didn’t have any luck. It would have been nice to remove a predator that has made such an impact on the herd.

@bchaug03 Thanks. We didn’t see any grizzlies (although I was hoping to but only at a distance). Saw a black bear and mule deer (does).

@JEFFWAN8 Thank you. It was a guided hunt (Montana Wilderness Outfitters). They did a great job and we were fortunate to locate an elk in an area few venture into.

@Gitmonat We found elk in the Bob. It was quite the effort to get where they were but it was worth the result. The rifle and bag in the picture were the hunting guide’s. The rifle is a lever action for bear protection. I used a .300 PRC bolt action for this hunt.
