UK Govt has committed £10bn to build new homes in England, including 1000s more social homes.🥳

With 180,000 children trapped in temporary accommodation, this is very welcome. But Govt must bring forward more funding in the Autumn budget, so families can find safe, stable homes.

@forwardnotback It's not just for Christmas, the funding runs over several years. The aim is to get people off the streets by Christmas and then provide wraparound support so they can leave homelessness behind for good.

@mariaingramcott The Manchester program had a 90% success rate which in turn attracted people who needed that level of support but couldn't get it locally. The lesson from that is that it's a scheme that needs to be implemented on a national level for it to work.

Rough sleeping has been rising, which is one of the most dangerous and devastating forms of homelessness.

So, it's fantastic to see the Prime Minister’s national drive in England to get people off the streets by Christmas.

Every year, we help thousands of people sleeping rough and in other types of homelessness like sofa surfing and temporary accommodation. In the long term, homelessness can only be ended with safe, affordable homes & today’s announcement is a positive step towards achieving that.
