Alemania 🇩🇪 ha abandonado su histórica oposición a la energía nuclear y se ha alineado con Francia para impulsar una política energética común en la Unión Europea.

El nuevo canciller, Friedrich Merz, que ganó las elecciones en febrero, ha sido muy crítico con la decisión de cerrar las centrales nucleares alemanas. Considera que la salida nuclear impulsada por Merkel en 2011 privó al país de electricidad barata y confiable, y reprocha a su predecesor Scholz haber cerrado las últimas tres centrales incluso en plena crisis de precios energéticos.

Aunque por el momento Merz no planea reabrir las centrales nucleares cerradas, ha propuesto una moratoria en el desmantelamiento de los 17 reactores, y ha prometido invertir en nuevas tecnologías como los pequeños reactores modulares (SMR) y la fusión nuclear.

Además, el canciller promueve que la energía nuclear sea reconocida al mismo nivel que las renovables en la legislación europea, eliminando sesgos políticos que hasta ahora bloqueaban decisiones clave. Este giro estratégico puede marcar un punto de inflexión en la seguridad energética del continente.
