@BladeoftheS This is a nice misleading chart. "Note: Data depict the gross public pension benefit for an average worker in each country... "
Says nothing about how much is spent on people not working. All it shows is that the government does not give as much public pension to working people
@BuyEnglishMade Most British people still don't seem to get that technology is not just some nerdy thing. Kids see football players and pop stars as role models, above people building technology which changes to world, whilst it's the opposite in silicon valley.
@BeanHundred@rawespresso Most people never try. They give up before they reach their full potential.
If you're already taking a defeatist attitude, then why bother trying. The cycle repeats and you get nowhere. No point blaming others
@Darius1296@rawespresso Well, Anthropic has just posted jobs for research engineers with salaries up to £630k.
You get paid what you're capable of and what value you bring. If you can't compete internationally, then why would you be expect to get top salaries?
@MonkehPutler@bar_dictum Just have a look at engineer salaries at Google. Anthropic has just posted a job for a research engineer with salaries up to £630k
@UKLabour Great, but why can't you be pragmatic about this. The dogmatic approach taken is what's hurting us in the short term - e.g. north sea oil drilling - instead we just pay that money to Norway and lose out on jobs and taxes
