@NotAvgLiberal I paid into SS and Medicare. My tax $$ pay for roads, parks, etc. I've never used snap or medicaid (but my tax $$ pay for that too). My tax $$ also pay for police and fire services. Kids went to private but my tax $$ went to public schools.
@ScaleMan423648@MikeJoPro@Greg53306136184 We all know the problem isnt the gun. The gun is a tool. The problem is the people. We had guns in gunracks in trucks at my HS (1970's/80's) No gun was ever used on a person. What has changed over the last 50 yrs. that has made teen boys want to shoot up schools?
@MikeJoPro It's already difficult for the wrong people to buy guns. Felons can't, those with diagnosed mental illness can't,those with DV conviction can't. So pretty much only those of legal age w/o major crimes can purchase. Doesn't stop those that steal then and resell on the streets.
@LibOrNormal What law would you like? One that makes it illegal for a 16 yr old to purchase guns? Done. Make murder illegal? Done. Robbery and theft? Already illegal. There are thousands of fed and state gun laws..problem is they don't always work. Address the problems in homes.
@MikeJoPro They are obviously accessing them illegally. They don't follow laws....which is why gun laws aren't effective. Guns are stolen and sold cheaply on the streets.
@broadwaybabyto Gun laws only stop law-abiding citizens who follow the laws. It doesn't stop criminals from buying stolen guns off the streets and it doesn't fix stupid families who don't keep them stored properly where their mentally unstable family members can't access them.
@ThomasEWoods Nobody is demanding "several times what they paid". Between what I paid and what my employer paid on my behalf plus 5% annual interest...it would take me 30 years of 3K a month to get back what was put in for me...not including continuing interest earned while collecting.
@Carby_J Myself and my employer pay into SS for me. Nobody pays into Welfare...we get taxed and our taxes pay people who can't or won't work...SS is for those who have worked and paid into it for a minimum of 10 years/40 quarters.
@folding_laundry@InsurancePlanX@MattWalshBlog How did we "fall" for it? We had no choice. I would have loved to have not paid into it and invested that money on my own (plus what my employers paid in for me).
@MattWalshBlog The problem is not the current recipients drawing out of the system, the problem is the lack of people paying into it. We have too many people living off of the govt instead of working and paying their "fair share" of taxes.
