Our new research finds that spot-on flea treatments on pets are a major source of river contamination with potent insecticides. Also, owners hands are continually contaminated by contact with treated pets. Pls RT (1/2)

Many people asking us about #bumblebees at the moment - why they’re seeing them on the ground - so here’s a quick thread to explain what they’re up to. Please #retweet as every #queen that survives means a new colony that gets to exist & produce new queen #bees for next year! 1/8

7 years ago this field had just been resown in grass for silage. it looked like most Irish fields: uniformly green with no surviving wildflowers.
here's how we brought it back to life:
We spent the last week at UMONS in Belgium, attending the Advanced Bee Taxonomy Course. Together with our fabulous instructors, we worked on one #bee genus per day, all chosen for their taxonomic notoriety 🐝🤔
Fun times!

“Biodiversity is the only defence we have against climate change.” Baseline synchrony between plants and pollinators is dramatically improved with more pollinator species. Lovely invited talk by @ibartomeus#Pollinators22
Field work favorite: finding hidden meadows. No path leads to this one. And pollinators were buzzing in a different, long forgoten dialect.
