My kids haven’t laced em up since season ended. They dove right Into lax and field hockey
Someone from the “in crowd” was talking to me and said aren’t you worried they are going to fall behind.
The answer is simple. No
Some things I have come to realize over time in this sport.
1. The parents can’t drive the bus. My child has never once come to me and said. Dad I Need to do all this spring and summer stuff
2. At some point genetics win. No matter how good your child is or will be someone who is 4 inches taller or 1 mph faster will be taken before them.
3. Distance makes the heart grow fonder. It’s an old term. But time away is what we all need. Work, sports , school. Every kid needs a reset.
This isn’t about right or wrong, it’s just about how I view it. If your kid wants hockey 365 days a year, Provide it ! Just make sure the end goal isn’t about chasing your dream it’s about making core memories.
