The apple core you just tossed off the hiking trail will get a bear killed.
Every single apple core and orange peel left on a trail teaches a nearby bear that human hiking trails are a food source.
In bears, it is almost always fatal. Wildlife managers have a phrase for it: "A fed bear is a dead bear."
Once a bear associates humans with food it keeps coming back. It gets bolder. It approaches campsites. It gets too close to people.
At that point there is no rehabilitation or relocation that reliably works. The bear gets euthanized.
The bear didn't do anything wrong. It learned exactly what we taught it.
This is why leave no trace means leave no trace. Pack it in. Pack it out. Every time.
Thank you TX Democrats for the warm welcome at your convention.
You’re doing difficult but enormously important work of transforming Texas from an anti-worker, anti-environment state to one that will protect the health & well-being of working families.
Keep up the great work.

Ossoff: "Last week, when they gathered in Atlanta to remove Black elected officials from office not by defeating them at the polls, but by manipulating maps to dilute minority power, they saw you mobilize, Savannah, and they backed down in fear of your power. A wave is building ... let's make sure they hear it down at Mar-a-Lago, that Georgia will bow to no king!"

The average life expectancy of a new Russian recruit—from arrival at a training ground to death in a combat zone—lies somewhere between 10 days and three weeks. Once sent onto the battlefield, they survive an average of 20 to 35 minutes. @peterfrankopan https://t.co/W3UhBerdH0
Maybe Vance doesn't know this history because it's in one of the books his administration banned.
The difference between Watergate and now is that back then, Republicans actually did something about a law-breaking president. Today, they only roll over for their cult leader.
The Buttigiegs have experienced a nightmare that should never have happened at all.
I hope whoever is responsible is found and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. https://t.co/mFaGCzZYJB
Ossoff: "This is what happens when you send your son in law Jared to cosplay as a diplomat. Despite zero qualifications, Prince Jared was tapped to lead Middle East diplomacy. Now remember Jared's slush fund already got $2 billion from the Saudi Crown Prince. Even now he's actively asking Arab princes for billions more. Not for the US, for his own business."

The rusty patched bumblebee used to live in 28 states. Today, its range has been reduced to just 5.
It was the first bee in US history to be listed as endangered. It disappeared from yards, gardens, and farms across the eastern US because we replaced the flowers it needs with lawns and monocrops, and then sprayed what little was left.
9 plants, planted strategically, can feed them all year and help bring them back.
- Wild lupine and wild geranium for spring blooms.
- Bee balm, coneflower, and wild bergamot for summer blooms.
- Goldenrods, New England aster, native thistles, and hyssop for fall blooms.
All native. All dead simple to grow.
If you live anywhere in its current or former range, plant the flowers. As the bee comes back from the brink, it'll be glad to find them in your yard.

This Mars wrapper has a 1986 date on it. It still looks like trash you could have dropped yesterday, but it was pulled off a beach in 2019.
That's the problem with plastic, It doesn't really go "away." It fades, cracks, shreds, and breaks into smaller and smaller pieces until it becomes microplastic in the sand, water, food chain, and eventually us.
Bring a bag to the beach with you the next time you go. You might be surprised by what you find.
What if just 1 in 100 lawns gave up one patch of grass for wildflowers?
Not the whole yard, I'm not talking a massive prairie restoration here. Just one strip along the fence, one sunny corner, one useless slope, one bed where the grass already looks bad anyway.
There are roughly 40 million acres of lawn in the U.S. If even 1% of that became native flowers, grasses, shrubs, and host plants, that's about 625 square miles of new habitat.
Bees would find pollen. Butterflies would find host plants. Birds would find caterpillars. Fireflies would find less-manicured edges. Ground-nesting bees would find bare soil.
All in places that are currently being mowed, fertilized, sprayed, and treated like green carpet.
