She’d been on the island for weeks, but this was her first sunset. It enchanted her. The deep pinks and muted blues dancing on the water took her away from herself. The Scots had a word for this magic time: the #gloaming. You roamed in it. Wasn’t that what the song said? #vss365
I missed my 01/01/2020 deadline for finishing my first draft, but I'm delighted to have cranked out 80k words in less than six months. Getting back into it now after a couple months of festivities and family. Time to get the daily word count humming again...and good ol' twitter.
@imhenryblack They get a placeholder until I find the right thing that 'just fits', for some undefined reason. I then use the George R R Martin trick (at least I associate it with him) of slightly changing up the spelling from what people are familiar with to make it seem more interesting.
Hey #writingcommunity. It's been a while! What did I miss? Back to work on my book and suddenly I find myself drifting your way for a few minutes of distraction... :D
@TaiGrice I hate the idea that every follow and interaction is a quid pro quo transaction, but sadly a lot of folk seem to think that way. I tend to tune out of Twitter when writing community chat swings too far to numbers and follow trains and advertising. That's not what I'm here for.
#MURDER, said the writing on the mirror. I laughed.
"It's supposed to say REDRUM!"
My reflection tipped me a wink and turned to rejoin the party. I staggered back, astonished.
"Is anyone else seei-"
On my side of the mirror, the guests closed in, baring hungry teeth.

@detective26AD My favourite one like that was one who just retweeted anything that had the word 'coffee' in it, and always with exclamations like 'oh yeah', 'that's great'
It happened in the #night. Her memory of it is black and close and heavy: a shroud for one yet living. She lies still.
Now, the sun shines in her face. But the heat is too close. Too intimate. She knows it is not a distant, life-giving star that awaits her open eyes.

@KitaCovers No Lorikeets for me, but the garden is butcher bird territory. There's also half a dozen possums, at least two bluetongues, and a tawny frogmouth. I love it.
Today in bizarre mugs abandoned in the office cupboard, we have a 'draw me like one of your French girls' cat reclining against some milk. Where do people get these things?

I hope you all enjoyed Mia's adventure. It was a blast to write and she'll definitely be finding her way into something more long form in future. And if you missed out, or just didn't get that ending, you can jump back to the beginning of it all with my pinned tweet.
🥳🥳🥳
So with today's Tweet my #vss365 September story is done. Thank you to everyone who read along, liked and RT'd. And of course thanks to @tiannag92, who shaped the whole adventure with her fabulous prompts. Not gonna lie, there were some tense moments in there; #cthantic, anyone?
