Lionel Messi's recent stance, especially regarding Trump, may be open to criticism, but this photo is generally shared out of context.
The photo was taken in August 2013 during FC Barcelona's Middle East "Peace Tour," when Messi was playing for the club. The first leg of the tour was dedicated directly to Palestine.
Before traveling to Israel, the team visited the West Bank and met with Palestinians. At Dura Stadium near Hebron, a football training session and event was held with the participation of approximately 25,000 Palestinian fans and children. Messi and his teammates played football with Palestinian children on the pitch and gave them technical training.
I'm not saying this to defend Messi, but there is no concrete indication that he directly supports zionism. There is no need to hand the world's most famous footballer to zionists who are openly looking for supporters.
@BouafifNour very well said. I had nothing against Portugal, and I'd love for them to win after he retired, I just don't want to hear his fans to boast or anything
🧱 The things some Ronaldo and Messi fanboys say and do online because of their so called debate is getting out of hand.
At this point it’s not even about football anymore.
How did we get to arguing about which country is more racist between Portugal or Argentina.
They have switched away from football, trying to drag each other’s country into it to win an argument online.
Football debates should be simple. Goals, skills, trophies, big games, what they did on the pitch. That’s it.
Now people are going into history books, politics, and social issues that have nothing to do with football, just to score cheap points.
Look, talking about racism is important and should be done. But using it as a weapon in a fan war is wrong and disrespectful to the real issue.
Ronaldo fans are the architect of these problems and I don't blame some Messi fans who will stop their level to do so
