Yolanda Adams on homophobia in the Church
"Listen, I am 64 years old. I have seen everything in the church. And again, it has everything to do with the way you were nurtured. My family nurtured us to believe and know that everyone that gets to this earth got here because they are God's children. And why would you want to ever hurt anything that God loves? I have cousins, I have friends, I have dear, dear friends in and out of all music and arts and sports genres. And I never looked at them as anything other than beautiful people. And it is not my job ever to, to hurt anyone or debase anyone because of who they are. God is not surprised by anyone he created. He knew who you would be before your mom and dad got together. So, why am I disrespecting what God respects and loves?"
Kelly Rowland on the Cannes incident: “There were other women on that red carpet who did not look like me that were not scolded, or pushed off, or told to get off. I set my boundary. I stood my ground and she stood hers.”
"If you stick a knife in my back 9 inches and pull it out 6 inches, that's not progress. If you pull it all the way out, that's not progress. Progress is healing the wound that the blow made. They haven't pulled the knife out; they won't even admit that it's there." —Malcolm X
When Comedian #Monique is asked her opinion on #WillSmith and #JadaPinkettSmith’s marriage, she responds that what they have going on in their relationship has nothing to do with her and talking about her opinion “does nothing for the community.” 🎥 @bigtiggershow
and please note that COKO has undeniably influenced a large number of female R&B vocalists that came after her in the 90’s. that in and of itself is what contributes to ‘legendary’ status. folk need to quit using that word so loosely. God bless er’body though. And congrats
