@fritzfam5 Are you talking about the "reason" input field? That's only meant for internal purposes. It gets shown on the audit log. That was never for sending anything to the user.

@nobunnyforu IP addresses are an extremely untrustworthy way of identifying a user's country. Even if nobody would use a VPN, IP geolocation can be off.

I'm very certain that in some legislations, this would not be considered enough.

Also, they essentially have to do age verification globally, as there's no real way to determine what country a user is from. Other than to ask *everyone* for their ID.

Which is why they said numerous times that they're not storing IDs at all. In fact, they don't even see your IDs a single time through any of the verification methods.
If they don't have it, they can't store it.

The only leak has been of an external customer service tool, where IDs were leaked by people who *emailed* photos of their IDs to Discord. Which nobody should do in the first place.

The discourse around Discords age verification shows how allergic people are to reading.
And how quick people are to blame the wrong party.

And unless you can come up with a 100% safe and certain way to figure out what country a user is from, they have to do it globally.
