Thrilled to see our work on high-resolution #cryoem using a common LaB6 120-keV TEM and sub–200-keV direct electron detector, now online @ScienceAdvances. https://t.co/WGbo5j3xWO
. A collaboration with @GatanMicroscopy, @GeorgRamm, and @CryoEM_Monash.
Check out our latest work done @CryoEM_Monash. 75kDa membrane protein PqqU-PQQ complex at 2 Angstrom resolution. Data again from our G1 krios with K3 and BioQuantum filter.
Our huge new preprint is out, the sequel to our Huc paper.
1. Isolation of enzyme that consumes carbon monoxide from air
2. Discovery of quinone extraction as a new mechanism of energy coupling
3. Determination of structural basis of these activities

Delighted to unveil one of Australia’s most advanced microscopes on Monday, the Titan Krios G4, showcasing our collective commitment to enable research at the highest level, collaborating & investing to change lives through discovery. #NCRIS#VHESIF More: https://t.co/FXFIkyLPdU
🧊🔬We were excited to kick off our 'Freeze, Frame & Focus: Mastering Cryo-Electron Tomography Techniques' workshop yesterday @MonashUni, with Martin Obr @em__obr leading the charge!
This unique, week-long training opp is delivered with @CryoEM_Monash, @micro_au & @thermofisher
This is actually democratising cryoEM! Brilliant work by @HariVenugopal2@CryoEM_Monash @GeorgRamm
Sub 3 angstrom on a 120 kV technai with a LaB6 source!
Read it! It's a masterpiece

We could solve Apoferritin to 2.65 Å resolution. “Real world” samples like asymmetric 153kDa GPCR (M4 muscarinic receptor) could be solved to ~4.4 Å resolution and even managed to get a 4.3 Å reconstruction for 64kDa Haemoglobin with C2 symmetry, all using sparse data.
Thank you to all the wonderful collaborators for the discussions and amazing samples for making this work possible. @JesseMobbs, @CyntiaTaveneau, @_danielfox, Ziva Vuckovic, @Rhys__G , @gavinjknott and @Thal_DM
This imaging configuration could considerably lower the economic entry barrier for cryo-EM SPA and gives many EM facilities an option to set up a high-quality cryo-EM SPA sample screening capability without the need to procure costly specialised Cryo-TEMs.
Dear #cryoem comrades. Check out our preprint on how 100 keV detectors help breathe fresh life into ubiquitously available LaB6-based TEM workhorses. A collaboration with @GatanMicroscopy, @GeorgRamm, and @CryoEM_Monash. https://t.co/NOo13IZtqN
Next Monday we will launch the @thermofisher Titan Krios G4 at @CryoEM_Monash with @EMBLAustralia. Its unparalleled resolution and advanced capabilities will enhance biomedical research, e.g. at @MonashBDI. Open to all Australian researchers.
