Rosy Bindi, a left-leaning Italian Christian Democrat, part of the Catholic left, and a former minister of Health under the Prodi government in the 1990s, on the Flotilla:
"That is an example of how the State of Israel views human dignity at this moment. This government is harming the whole world: the Palestinians, and even the Jewish people themselves.
The reaction we should have toward Israel must be an extremely firm one. We must have the courage to sever relations with this country. It cannot be enough merely to ask that Italians be treated well. A clear and unequivocal stance must be taken against a state that, at this moment, has become a danger to the world and tramples on fundamental human rights.
Now, I understand that for this [Meloni] government it is difficult to reach these conclusions. Do we really have to wait for a video like this before reacting? The words being used against the Flotilla are deeply insulting. The symbolic power of people who sacrifice part of their lives, their own money, and even put themselves at risk in order to remind everyone that there are peoples whose fundamental dignity is being crushed... this is something that a democratic country should praise, that we should be grateful for, not mock, not dismiss as “caravans.”
The reason why we are not reacting strongly enough becomes obvious: the fundamental culture of rights and respect for human beings is being lost. Europe cannot afford this.
The State of Israel has many means of pressure and blackmail. We know that. But there come moments when states themselves must be willing to take risks if they want to save the principles upon which they were founded. Principles we know very well came at a tremendous cost.”

Oggi invece no.
Risposta “Avranno cambiato idea 💡 ?
And who was in VAR today?

I am outraged that an 18-month-old baby in ICE detention was hospitalized & then denied medication after release back to custody.
No child should suffer this cruelty.
I am working to impeach Secretary Noem & demand dignity for every person in detention.

I've heard directly from hundreds of children at Dilley. One young girl who shared her story with me grew up in the United States and her stepfather is a U.S. citizen. She said that the guards are mean to her, she is afraid, and that she is worried she will die in detention. She has been in Dilley for over 120 days. Her and Liam’s stories are one of thousands. What the Trump admin is doing to our children is depraved and unconscionable. Dilley must close. #FreeOurChildren

Hundreds of children are currently being held with their parents at an immigration detention center in Dilley, Texas. In letters and drawings, eight kids convey the pain of feeling trapped with no end in sight. https://t.co/d74IPKyafe
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.
Hundreds of kids are still detained. We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵
🚨 YESTERDAY IN MINNESOTA 🚨 DHS filed a motion to dismiss asylum without a full hearing and expedite deportation against the family of Liam Ramos.
His family was granted a continuance, but this cruelty must be known.
Please share far & wide! Make #LeaveLiamAlone trend!!
Again, DHS isn't going after hardened criminals or drug cartels. They're repeatedly targeting a 5-year-old boy. This is cruelty for cruelty's sake. https://t.co/Ldmka13P2t
🚨BREAKING: DHS is trafficking twin FIVE-YEAR-OLDS and refusing to release them because they “lack property and assets.”
Twin five year olds have been detained at the Dilley detention center for EIGHT MONTHS.
An immigration judge denied them bond because of “a lack of property” and “a lack of assets.”
And no, this wasn’t based on their family.
This decision was made separately, for each child, as an individual.
So, the U.S. government is now arguing that FIVE YEAR OLDS are too poor to be free.
Which tends to be the case for most 5 year olds.
And, as a result, DHS is continuing to hold these children, after already imprisoning them for eight months, in a for-profit concentration camp.
That is child trafficking.
So now, because the government has decided that kindergartners must meet a wealth requirement to not be trafficked, a GoFundMe has been started so these FIVE YEAR OLDS can acquire “assets” and buy their freedom from U.S. custody.
And this is all by design…
The Trump administration dismantled long-standing child detention protections, including moving to override the Flores Settlement, which limited how long children could be held and required their release to family whenever possible.
Those safeguards were replaced with policies that allow children to be detained for months and denied bond, all to make CoreCivic more money.
This is what happens when human rights are replaced with profit margins.

Liam Ramos, 5, spent ten days in a Texas trailer prison. He got sick, missed his mother and school, and was afraid of the guards.
Millions prayed, spoke up, and offered to do whatever they could to see him go home.
Then a federal judge ordered his release and I escorted him and his father home to Minnesota.
But now the Trump Administration is trying to take him again. They are breaking legal precedent in an attempt to break this boy’s spirit and all of the Americans who are praying for him.
A federal judge blocked Noem’s attempt to deport over 350,000 Haitians under temporary protected status. It’s time for Congress to act.
I signed onto @RepPressley’s discharge petition to force a vote on extending TPS for Haitians.
Deporting families back to a country in crisis is inhumane and unacceptable.
The public made noise for Liam Ramos and it got him released from Dilley.
Now we must make noise for 7 year old Diana Crespo.
Her parents were taking her for emergency medical care when ICE grabbed them, and she’s rotting in the camp sick and exposed to measles.
Get them out!
