⚛️🇯🇵Japan to free up more public funding in nuclear power renewal push

Japan is moving to unlock more public funding for its crippled nuclear power sector, which experts say is crucial to jump-starting an industry long financed by shareholder-owned utilities.

Next week, will mark a milestone in the sector's recovery, when Niigata prefecture lawmakers are expected to vote in favour of restarting two of seven reactors at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear plant, the world's biggest.

"We will use the loan system currently under consideration to support long-term and large-scale investments, which are generally considered difficult to raise money for," the ministry said. (Reuters)
